Well my Daughter Of God friends it has been a while since I have written one of these. I promise I am trying to get better at it. I have had a bad case of writers block. However today as I was scrolling through Pinterest looking for Christian inspiration I came across a bible verse that really resonated with something I have been dealing with lately and maybe some of you are too. The verse was Proverbs 29:11 "Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end." This really hit home because I have been struggling very much with this very thing. I have a person in my life that I can't just not deal with but this person continually wants to make comments about members of my immediate family in order to get a rise out of me. Nothing will get the mama bear to rear her fierceness than to mess with her children or husband. However that is not how God wishes us to respond. We are taught to turn the other cheek to only project kindness no matter what is being said. So far I have been very proud of myself for not showing anger but just smiling and changing the subject. I find myself continually praying to control my anger not only to prevent me from lashing back out but to not internalize it but release it to his grace and power. My pastor recently put it in another way to view it, that person that is saying the not so nice things about you or to you is a child of God and all God's children should be treated as you would Jesus. So I went on a search to find other verses that I can remember in these times when I am finding it difficult to not respond with negativity.
Exodus 23:22 "If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you."
Luke 6:27-30 "27 But to you who are listening I say love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those that mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
Proverbs 24:17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls when they stumble do not let your heart rejoice.
1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
We have all heard these verses over and over again and some we may even know by heart, however even the strongest Christian struggles from time to time especially when they are being attacked. For me sometimes just seeing a verse will give me the reassurance and reminder that I am made in his image and in turn should live my life according to his word that I may inherit blessings in heaven. Today I saw this verse while scrolling through Pinterest but this is one of the reasons we created this Christian apparel brand to remind others of Jesus word.
